The Inquiry
Autumn reached out to me in late April wanting to take advantage of a newborn flash sale that I was offering at the time. I replied to her the next morning, super excited that she wanted me to take her newborn's pictures. I noticed that Autumn wasn't very local to me and come to find out one of my photography friends, that I hold near and dear to my heart sent her my way! So, Dallas if you're reading this THANK YOU! You always send the sweetest mommas to me and I'm so glad they take your recommendation.
Autumn expressed to me that her due date was in September but baby girl was predicted to be "BIG" so I kept that in the back of my head while I waited for her to text me and let me know that she delivered. Low and behold, 12 days before her expected due date sweet little Hadley Paul was born.
The Most Delicate Details
One of my favorite things to do at newborn sessions is capture the tiniest details of your little one. From my own experience, I know that their toes and fingers only stay so little for so long and before you know it they're outside digging in the mud and covered in boo boos from playing too rough. I'm always in awe of how delicate baby details are at this stage so I think it's important to capture them.
Connecting with a Client
Hadley's session was scheduled for a Friday night after I got off of my full time job. Within minutes of Autumn walking in the door, it felt like we had known each other for years. As I worked to settle her sweet baby into those delicate poses, we couldn’t help but laugh at the unexpected soundtrack coming from just outside—a nearby church was hosting a karaoke night. It seemed like every time we needed it to be quiet, they would start playing some song that had me and mom looking at each other busting up laughing. The whole session was filled with laughter , even in the moments when we were patiently waiting for baby Hadley to drift off to sleep.
We talked about the realities of motherhood—the challenges of returning to work after maternity leave and how life shifts from one child to two. We discovered that we both have older boys and now baby girls, all around the same ages. It was like we were walking through similar seasons of life, and in that moment, we just clicked!
For me, these connections are everything. Yes, I’m here to capture those once-in-a-lifetime moments with your newborn, but I’m also a mom. I know how much this time means, and I want to be someone you feel comfortable sharing your journey with!
I can't thank Autumn enough for trusting me to capture her baby girl! I hope to work with her again in the future (but maybe this time without the Karaoke LOL!)
