I am beyond excited to introduce January’s Newborn of the Month, the sweetest little boy, Mason Paul! Mason holds a special place in my heart, as he is the son of one of my dearest friends, Maddy. Maddy and I have shared so many wonderful memories over the past 7 years. From her being a bridesmaid at my wedding, to helping me paint my house, and countless dinner dates in between, she has always been there for me. It fills me with so much joy to see her step into the role of mother, especially knowing how incredibly caring and loving she is. I’ve always admired how great Maddy is with my kids—she’s the kind of person who will happily get down on the floor to play with my toddler without hesitation, and I know she would be there for me in a heartbeat if I ever needed anything. (Just as I would for her!)
When Maddy and Codey found out they were expecting, I was thrilled for them. Maddy walked into my house and handed me ultrasound and I just remember being so caught off guard and thrilled with excitement for her at the same time. In the fall, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Maddy and Codey for their maternity session. The day was perfect—the autumn leaves were in full color, and we spent over an hour traveling around her family’s property on the buggy, capturing those beautiful, precious moments before Mason’s arrival. And if you know Maddy, you know we had to include Oscar and Mac. Fun fact: When my son was 2 years old, he had this obsession with calling Oscar, Mayonnaise. Obviously, that's not his real name and we have no idea where it came from but it stuck for me so now Oscar's nickname is Mayonnaise. LOL!
Mason surprised us all by making his grand entrance 10 days earlier than expected, weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long. Despite his early arrival, he was born with the most perfect, round cheeks, and I couldn’t wait to meet him. For newborn sessions, I typically schedule them a little over two weeks after birth. This timing allows families to settle into their new routine before they have to venture out of the house, while still capturing the sweetness of those early days, when the baby is still sleepy and easy to comfort. When Mason arrived for his session, he was as big as a 2-month-old—so much baby to love, and oh-so-perfect in every way!
We started with some family shots, filled with laughter and joy, before we dove into individual portraits of Mason. We made sure to capture him on a variety of colors, showcasing just how adorable he is in every shot.
It was such a joy to capture this sweet boy and to spend time catching up with Maddy, who is already such a wonderful mother. I can’t wait to see Mason grow and watch him experience all the love and laughter that comes with being part of such an amazing family!
Mason, you are so loved already, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.
