Newborn of the Month Introduction
I’m excited to announce a new feature on the blog called “Newborn of the Month”! Each month, I’ll be highlighting one of the beautiful newborns I’ve had the joy of photographing. The selection will be random, giving each little one a chance to shine in their own special post. I've had this idea in mind since August so we're going to backtrack a few months! I can’t think of a better way to kick off this program than by introducing August’s Newborn of the Month: Nicholas Kai.
Nicholas's Arrival
Nicholas’s story with me actually began years ago when I photographed his mom and dad, Linda and Zane, at the start of my journey as a photographer. I had the honor of capturing their love once again two years ago on their wedding day, and the day was truly magical. So, when Linda texted me on August 14th to announce the arrival of their sweet little boy, Nicholas Kai, I couldn’t have been happier. I knew right away they would make incredible parents.
We scheduled the newborn session for 10 days later, and as soon as they walked through the door, I was thrilled. Nicholas was as adorable as can be and had the most amazing head of hair! Zane even humorously noted that he wore the same shirt he had on at their couple's session years ago—it felt like we were stepping into a sweet, full-circle moment.
During our time together, we laughed, caught up, and captured beautiful images that perfectly reflected the love and pride Linda and Zane have for Nicholas. They also had a special request: to incorporate Zane’s grandfather’s Air Force denim button-up into the photos. I love including sentimental items in newborn sessions; it adds a unique layer of personal meaning and family legacy to these first portraits.
I’m so grateful to have witnessed and captured the big moments in Linda and Zane’s lives, from young loves to wedding to parenthood. Welcome to the world, Nicholas Kai—you are so loved already!
