February 22nd, 2023 Wood County Hospital

About a month ago, I posted a birthing model call to my Facebook page. I've always wanted to be a labor and delivery photographer, but with Covid and hospital regulations, it never seemed to work out.

Kaela had reached out to me wanting to fulfill this model call position and I was instantly over the moon. I was familiar with their family, having photographed them in my studio about a year ago and they are just the sweetest. I was so eager for Kaela to go into labor! Better yet, this was a surprise gender!

Kaela sent me a text to inform me that they had set up a date for her to go in and be induced, and that date happened to be the day before my birthday. While I obviously wanted everything to go as smooth and quick as possible, I thought maybe my birthday twin was on the way haha! Kaela and Kyle had to be at the hospital at 6 am to be admitted. I was planning on coming later that morning, but they had her hooked up to Pitocin by 7:30, so I was there as quickly as I possibly could be. It's a good thing I was because, after about only 4.5 hours Kaela had began pushing. All throughout her labor, she had a smile on her face. Not all people can remain as positive and happy as she did when it was clear she was in so much pain. However, while in labor, you know the end result. Kaela was truly ready to meet her sweet baby.

After what seemed like 3 minutes of pushing, I heard Kyle say "it's a boy" and my heart was so happy for this wonderful couple. Being able to watch a new life be born is something so beautiful.

7lbs. 1 oz.

This sweet baby boy was 7lbs and 1 oz. He was so eager to make his entrance into the world and I'm so glad I was able to be there when he did. This is a moment that I will truly never forget. My first hospital birth.
